Sandspit Holiday Park

Sandspit Holiday Park has for many years been a popular destination and has created many happy memories for visitors. Barista Style Coffee, Ice Cream, Bread and Milk can be obtained at the office.

The Beachfront has a pleasant walk past all the small baches or along the spit to the ferry terminal.

The network of Brick Bay walking tracks starts up the hill behind the Holiday Park and connect to Horseshoe Bay and beyond to Brick Bay Beach. At low tide it is possible to walk the entire distance from the camp to Snell’s Beach along the water’s edge (see section below on Recreational Activities on page 17)

Security

Sandspit is a peaceful and law-abiding community and residents wish to keep it that way. Because we are relatively isolated, we keep an eye out for comings and goings in the community.

To support and assist this, the SRRA pays for the monitoring of a sophisticated security camera designed to record all traffic in and out of Sandspit. The system has a specialized camera to capture number plates and to aid in identifying the type of vehicle.

In the past there have been several investigations of personal injury, traffic, and vandalism offences, with successful outcomes. Many of these involve theft from boats. Suspicious incidents should be reported promptly to Warkworth Police (09) 425 8109.

Donations to support the cost of the camera service are welcome. This can be done by electing to make a small payment each month (we suggest $2.50 to $5 monthly) or an annual one-off payment of your choice.

Waste Collection

Household Waste Collections

Council Contractors collect rubbish weekly every Tuesday mornings. Rubbish must be put out by 7.00am in the official orange rubbish bags that can be purchased at supermarkets. Wheelie Bins can be hired from Mason Bins phone (09) 425 8567.

Recycling bins for glass, plastics and paper are collected every second Tuesday. Check the Auckland Council website (www.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz) for your collection day as well as to what is acceptable for recycling, or ring (09) 301 0101.

Alternatively, Mahurangi Wastebusters is a community focused waste recycler situated in Lawrie Rd on the Warkworth side of Snell’s Beach.

In late 2021 a new recycling and waste facility (“Re:Sort”) funded by Northland Waste was opened at 183 Sandspit Road.

Green Waste

240 Litre Green waste bins can be rented from Northland Waste (www.northlandwaste.co.nz) at a very nominal cost and are collected the second Friday of each month.
